Future Research

Future work largely depends upon whether someone is willing to fund my research. I have developed an interest in understanding the physical phenomena associated with shock wave propagation in saturated porous media (particularly sediments). Areas that I believe need further work include the shock propagation distance, attenuation mechanisms, and the coupling of the shock wave with the underlying phases of the porous medium (i.e., saturating fluid and viscoelastic lattice). A second area of interest is the physics of ship wakes. That is, how does sound interact with the the bubbly medium caused by the passage of a ship.
